THE CONCEPT
This concept represents my take on what a coffee app for users on the go should look and feel like. This concept was an exercise carried out during my Interactive media management, post graduate program. The goal of the project was to identify an existing issue with coffee apps and to create a solution to it within 4 screens.I began the process by evaluating existing coffee apps with the aim of identifying a pain point. The class exercise was an individual effort with limited time constraints and the research is based on my personal experience using coffee apps
PROJECT OVERVIEW
THE PROBLEM
I have noticed most coffee apps lack visual images, and it could be difficult for customers to chose. In order to provide users with an easy-to-use app, I create a simple coffee app which provides various pictures.
THE SOLUTION
The [Cup] coffee app gives various pictures throughout the concept because it helps users to decide faster and more comfortable. In addition to that, users can add drink, coffee or juice to favourite, so that they don't need to go through the menu again.
VISUAL DESIGN
THE CONCEPT OF THE LOGO
I applied the concept of the positive and negative composition to the coffee app logo. The positive space represents the shape of coffee, and the negative space refers to coffee which makes the cup stand out.
UX DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
PROTOTYPE
This concept is designed for processes that like to buy coffee but don't like complicated navigation.
Users can easily choose the coffee they want. Besides, users can add their most frequently selected items to my favourites, so they don't have to go through the menu.
To facilitate the use, the user can conveniently click the small icons on the bottom bar, next to home. The hamburger menu provides more functions for the consumers who sign up, such as automatically recording each purchase of the favourite item and address.
TAKEAWAYS
I applied my personal experience and did some researches of food and drink app, and I understood that visuals do matter when it comes to online purchase because most users would like to see how the product looks.
In the [Cup] app, I place many pictures to assist customers to make a decision. Apart from this, I applied usability heuristics to give users the control and freedom to click where they need.
